Tri-Angle - Eleven

Eleven

[Still my POV because it's author time]

After a while, Yunho came back with two huge paper bags in his hands with Jaejoong following closely behind him with a plate of pasta on each of his hands.

“Here you go,” They both said in union as they placed the paper bags and pasta in front of me.

“Purrrfect,” I looked at the snacks and food in front of me greedily and proceeded to scoop out different types of snacks from the paper bag.

“Oh my god! Chocolates! Green tea kit-kat!” I squealed in excitement and waved the box of snacks in front of Yunho. “These are the best thing on earth!”

Yunho laughed at my reaction and said, “I’m glad that I brought plenty of it.”

“Best-“

“Hey, did you just pushed away my plate of pasta and went for the snacks instead?” Jaejoong cut me off.

“Yea- I mean, no.” I tried to ignore my brother’s glare. “C’mon, these are from Japan! And you know it’s hard to get these snacks around here. You cannot blame me for getting more excited over them than your food.”

KNOCK! “OW- Cut it out!” I yelled as Jaejoong hit me in the head again. “Fine, I’ll give you a box of Peppero, okay? Now we’re even.”

“What about the rest?” He asked.

“What do you mean?” I look at him innocently. “I’ll take good care of the rest.”

“Are you sure?” He said with a smile playing on his lips. “Isn’t it about time for you to go on a diet?”

“Shut up.” I glowered at him and turned to Yunho. “Ignore him. Come on, eat up. The pasta’s going to be all cold.”

“Oh right,” Yunho chuckled while picking up his fork. “You two sure get along well huh?”

“No, not really.” I replied before Jaejoong could say anything. “However, my brother’s dishes are a must try. Even though he may not look like it, he’s a pretty good cook.” I flashed a smile at Yunho.

“That’s more like it,” Jaejoong said smugly and I pretend to have not heard him.

“I was really surprised when Jaejoong offered to cook for lunch. This looks really good,” Yunho said while admiring the plate of red pepper salmon pasta before him. The dish was well presented with baked salmon fillets lied out in a single layer surrounding the angel pasta that was placed in the middle of the plate. Red pepper sauce was poured over the fish and pasta with sprinkles of grated parmesan cheese on top.

“Well then, try it.” Jaejoong urged.

Yunho nodded and twirl his fork around the pasta to gather a bite before lifting it to his mouth.

“How is it?” Jaejoong asked anxiously.

“It’s good!” Yunho’s face brightened up and Jaejoong relaxed. “This is really delicious! You’re really a good cook!”

“Ai noff rite, Ai toff yoo!” I said through my own mouthful of pasta and grinned at Yunho.

“Don’t talk when you’re stuffing so much food into your mouth, idiot!” Jaejoong scolded me.

“Damn, this is the best thing on earth.” I said after swallowing my mouthful of pasta. “You’re the best bro!”

“All types of food are the best thing on earth for you.”

“But this is really good, and it’s the first time I’ve tried something like red pepper salmon,” Yunho beamed.

“I’m glad it turned out to be good. I was a bit worried at first as this is the first time I’m trying out this new recipe,” Jaejoong looked down at his own plate of pasta, “Luckily it’s a success!”

“With cooking skills like this, I am so glad that you are my brother. Otherwise, you would have to be my boyfriend,” I said as I continued to gobble down the food.

“It’s a tough life for me either way,” he muttered.

“Oh right, Yunho. Do you have a girlfriend?” I turned my attention to Yunho.

“No, I don’t.” He smiled sheepishly before taking in another bite of the pasta.

“Jaejoong neither." I stopped for a moment of thoughts and continued, "Would you mind taking my brother in then? He could pass off as a pretty good housewife-“ I joked but that’s when Yunho choked on his food and started coughing madly.

“Are you okay?” Jaejoong jumped up from his seat and started patting Yunho on his back.

“Geez- it was a joke. I’m sorry if it scared you.” I laughed half-heartedly.

“I’m- I’m- fine.” He replied between coughs.

“Guess no one wants you bro,” I teased Jaejoong. He ignored me and told Yunho, “I’ll get you some water.”

“Thanks,” said Yunho as Jaejoong strode off into the kitchen and came back with a cup of water after a moment.

“Better?”

“Yes, thank you.” Yunho replied after drinking the water.

“Sorry,” I apologized again.

“No, no. It’s okay, it’s not you. It was an accident. I was just..” He trailed off. I looked at him and waited for him to continue. “Nevermind.” He said. “So, don’t you have any plans today?”

“Well, actually I do. I’ll be heading out after this.”

Jaejoong looked up at me. “Where are you going?”

“Just hanging out with the girls. Don’t worry about me. I’ll have fun. You both have fun too.” I smiled and went running upstairs to get ready to head out.

“Don’t forget to bring your keys this time!” Jaejoong yelled at me before I closed the door to my room.

Tri-Angle - Ten

Ten
[Poppy’s POV]

“Bzz-bzz-“

I woke up to the sound of my phone vibrating on the floor for the third time in the morning. Instinctively, I tossed myself around in bed to reach for the phone. I moved my hands blindly across the floor with my eyes still closed trying to feel for my phone but to no avail. The buzzing sound continued.

“Where the-“ I grumbled and decided to open one of my eyes and that’s when my fingers came into contact with the phone. I picked it up swiftly, turned off the alarm and proceeded to toss it aside so I can go back to sleep.

Wait, what time is it? I fumbled around for my phone again and glanced at the time on the screen.

12.30pm.

Shit, it’s almost 1. I should get up, I thought. But I continued to roll around in bed for another 15 minutes before finally deciding to wake up for real. After cleaning myself up, I opened my door only to hear sounds of laughter coming from the living room.

I paused in front of my room. Guests? No way. I hate having guests in the house when I just woke up. I’m not in the mood to entertain anyone. I stood there trying to decide whether I should go back into my room or go down and greet the people.

“Damn it!” I cursed under my breath. I moved down the stairs quietly and deliberately as I decided to go down for food. I came to a stop at the end of the stairs and tried peeking in the direction of the living room.

Hm? I swore I heard-

“Poppy.” A voice came behind my back, giving me a huge shock as I stumbled forward and shouted, “Oh my god!” I spun around to find Yunho standing behind me with a plate of pasta in his hands.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you, are you okay?” His brows creased with worry.

“What’s wrong?” My brother came running out of the kitchen in an apron and a cooking mitt in one of his hands.

“Nothing,” I breathed. “I just got shocked when Yunho suddenly called out to me.”

“I’m really sorry,” Yunho said in a soft voice and smiled apologetically.

“Don’t worry about it, I’m fine now. Really,” I assured him. “Why are you here so early?” I asked.

Yunho was about to open his mouth and say something but Jaejoong knocked me in the head.

“Ow- what,” I yelled in pain but Jaejoong cut me off, “EARLY? Look, my princess, just because you just woke up it doesn’t mean it’s still early in the morning. It’s already 1 in the afternoon.” He put his hands on his hips and glared at me.

“Oh, right.” I muttered, rubbing my head.

Jaejoong shook his head slightly and mumbled something unintelligible before continuing to speak, “Anyway, Yunho came over to ask for help with his homework and he also brought us some snacks from Japan. So I offered him lunch.”

“Oh.” I watched as Yunho placed the plate of pasta in his hands on the dining table before us.

“I’ve made yours too. I figured that you will be up soon. We’re having pasta today.” Jaejoong said in a proud voice.

“Niceeeee,” I sang happily as I skipped away and sat down at the dining table. “Thanks oppa!”

Jaejoong heaved a sigh and bowed at me, “I’ll go and bring them out now, your highness.” And he turned to leave while I continued to giggle on my seat.

“I’ll help-“ Yunho started.

“No, no, it’s okay. Just sit down and wait. I’ll be right back.” Jaejoong adjusted the cooking mitt on his hands before going back into the kitchen.

“Yeah, have a seat.” I offered Yunho.

“Thank you.” He replied with a smile and took a seat next to me. There was an awkward silence while we waited for Jaejoong to return with his dishes.

Maybe I should say something, I thought.

“So,” I tried, “Where are the snacks?”

“I’m sorry?” Yunho turned his attention from the plate of pasta to me.

Shit. I didn’t mean to say it like that. I mentally smacked myself in the head.

“Err, Jaejoong said you-“ I said slowly and paused, hoping he’d get what I was trying to ask by now. But Yunho was looking at me with his eyebrows slightly raised. What? He didn’t get it?

“Nothing, never mind” I tried to laugh it off.

“I what?” Yunho asked with a confused expression.

“You- are really hardworking!” I said in a voice louder than usual. I mentally smacked myself in the head again. Me and my social skills, well done. “I mean, you just transferred to our school recently and you’re already worrying about homework and stuffs. Not to mention that you should have learnt the syllabus we’re learning now in your previous school, so it shouldn’t be a problem for you.”

“Oh.” He diverted his attention from me. “It’s just a subject that I’m really bad in. I can’t seem to fully understand the things that are taught. Anyway,” he continued, “The snacks I brought for you guys, I’ll go get it for you.” He got up from his seat and went into the kitchen.

Ah, now you bring that up. “Alright! Thanks a bunch!” I shouted in the kitchen’s direction.
